In freestyle (Dog Dancing) he performed initially in Brazil, first in dog shows but soon in TV shows and fairs. He ended up representing Brazil in 4 FCI Agility World Championships as well as 1 European Open and 1 America’s & Caribbean. He began teaching seminars, being cited in magazines, websites and numerous TV appearances. In 2000, Dante fell in love with dog sports and started teaching his own dogs in agility and freestyle. He spent his first years working privately with owners and their dogs, focusing on “good” general behavior and manners. Dante will be addressing protocols for exposure to triggers in a separate follow-up course. In each of the four live sessions, he met with two separate clients to create a foundation of calm. This course is Part 1 of 2, a foundations course featuring Dante Camacho’s holistic approach to the all-too-common anxiety disorders, including reactivity. He’s already got quite a following in Portuguese, but Dante is a rising star in the English speaking world. When I taught in Brazil, I was struck by Dante's methodical approach to reactivity. It’s like a non-pharmaceutical version of anti-anxiety medication. Looking at the Whole Dog for Reactivity and Anxietyĭante’s approach sets dogs for success by addressing the mental, physical, and emotional aspects of their lives. I'm eager to see how my own dog and client's dogs will respond to this strategy. Best of all, I'm following along with one of my own dogs and this is really the first time I've followed a structured plan and committed to the process with him. I'll be eager to revamp my program incorporating some things from this class, reframing how I present certain things I was already using, and retaining some of my own preferred games. However, I'm already seeing that in my program I rush to DS/CC games without enough focus on certain foundations, leash handling, etc. After lecture one I was feeling quite pleased with myself as I do use a 'holistic'/whole health approach including the 'hierarchy of dog needs' and a stress detox before clients start training. I have a system I've put together that works well but I'm always looking for ways to improve it. I specialize in reactivity and use a variety of games inspired by BAT and Control Unleashed with my clients. Over the years I've added other role models but Grisha has remained a top one so when I saw she was recommending Dante's approach I had to know more. was my go to method when I first started studying to become a trainer and discovered my love for working with reactive dogs. I've been a CPDT for 7 years now and working with dogs and their people professionally for 10 years. I strongly recommend this class for those new to training reactive dogs as well as those who have been working with them for years.
